Restroom Finder is your companion app for discovering clean, accessible restrooms wherever you go. This guide will help you get the most out of the app.
Getting Started
First Launch
- Grant Location Permission: When you first open the app, allow location access to show nearby restrooms
- Explore the Map: The app opens to a map view showing all nearby restrooms with color-coded markers
- Switch Views: Use the bottom tabs to switch between Map and List views
Understanding the Interface
Map View
- Your Location: The blue dot shows where you are
- Restroom Markers: Color-coded pins show restroom locations by type
- Search Bar: Find specific locations by name or address
- Filter Button: Access advanced filtering options
- Add Button: Submit a new restroom location
List View
- Distance Display: Each restroom shows how far away it is from you
- Feature Badges: Quick-view icons show key features
- Tap to View: Tap any restroom to see full details
Key Features
Finding Restrooms
Search:
- Tap the search bar at the top of the screen
- Type a name, address, or keyword
- Results filter in real-time as you type
Filters:
- Tap the filter icon in the top right
- Toggle features you need (wheelchair accessible, family friendly, etc.)
- Select restroom types
- Tap "Apply Filters" to see filtered results
Restroom Details
When you tap on a restroom, you'll see:
- Name and address
- Distance from your location
- Overall rating and cleanliness rating
- Type and features checklist
- Hours of operation (if available)
- User reviews
Favorites
Adding Favorites:
- Open any restroom's detail page
- Tap the heart icon in the top right
- The restroom is now bookmarked
Contributing to the Community
Add a New Restroom
- Tap the + button
- Fill in the details (name, address, type, features)
- Tap "Submit Restroom"
Write a Review
- Open a restroom's detail page
- Scroll down and tap "Add Review"
- Rate your experience (overall and cleanliness)
- Write your review
- Tap "Submit Review"
Troubleshooting
Location Not Working
Problem: The app cannot find my location
Solutions:
- Go to iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services
- Ensure Location Services is turned ON
- Scroll to "Restroom Finder" and select "While Using the App"
- Restart the app
No Restrooms Showing
Problem: The map or list is empty
Solutions:
- Check if filters are applied - tap "Reset Filters"
- Ensure you have location permission granted
- Zoom out on the map to see a wider area
- Clear any active searches
App Running Slowly
Solutions:
- Close and restart the app
- Ensure you have the latest version installed
- Restart your iPhone
- Check your internet connection
